Leading packaging origination and flexo platemaking company, Contact Originators, has been shortlisted in the environment category of the highly-regarded Solutions Awards for its extended gamut printing solution (EGPP) for flexographic printing.
Working in partnership with Smurfit Kappa Inspirepac Markham Vale, Contact Originators developed an industry-first technology which has been shortlisted due to its ability to reduce the carbon footprint of a printed pack by decreasing the amount of inks, solvents and VOCs used in the printing process.
Nick Mitchell, General Manager at Contact Originators, said: “Environmental responsibility is a major concern for our clients today. Solving the challenges presented by sustainable printing requires a certain amount of thinking outside the box in terms of our technologies and practices.”
“With EGPP, we’ve taken a technology that was never intended for the corrugate flexo market and fine-tuned a process to meet the demands of corrugate printing. We’re extremely proud that our market-leading approach to innovation has resulted in a Solutions Award shortlisting.”
Organised annually by Earth Island, the Solutions Awards celebrate solutions that creatively and effectively solve problems. The scheme is open to companies from across the packaging industry whose working practices demonstrate this innovation-led approach.
The six shortlisted entries in each category will be whittled down to three via a public online voting system, with winners announced at a prestigious awards ceremony at the Café de Paris, London on November 13, 2018.
