Innovation-led packaging origination and graphics management company, Contact Originators, has been shortlisted for the Stationers’ Guild Innovation Excellence Award 2019 for its innovative OptimusTM flexographic plate technology.
CEO of Contact Originators, Steve Mulcahy, said: “As a business we are focussed on delivering breakthrough technologies to the market and the launch of Optimus has been a great success for us. It was a huge privilege to win a bronze in the Technical Innovation category at the EFIA awards in March for the plate design and we are now extremely proud to have been shortlisted for the Stationers’ award. Last year we were highly commended by the judges so hopefully this year we can go one better.”
The new Optimus technology delivers improved ink laydown and ink reductions in the corrugated print process and can save brands up to 20% on ink usage and up to 20% on ink formulation compared to a standard plate. The new technology solution was adopted for a project with a leading packaging client who required high-performance print on corrugated boxes for a well-known fashion brand.
Contact Originators General Manager, Nick Mitchell commented: “Contact has a proven track record of creating innovative industry-firsts and we pride ourselves on developing new technologies and processes which bring significant benefits to our customers.”
Held annually, The Stationers’ Guild Innovation Excellence Awards celebrate companies and individual business units within the UK Communications and Content industries.
The winners will be announced on 25 June at Stationers’ Hall, London.
