Contact Originators is thrilled to announce that its breakthrough innovation, PrintHQ, has been shortlisted in the Business Processes category at the prestigious Stationers’ Innovation Excellence Awards 2023.
PrintHQ is an automated digital shim printing technology that utilises inkjet technology to deliver individual print job information directly onto the plate shim at the point of mounting, eliminating the need for manual labelling by operators.
Representing true Contact Originators innovation on the world’s stage, the process not only enhances efficiency but also eliminates the potential for human error, reducing waste and duplications. By turning shim mounting into a digitally traceable and manageable part of the process, PrintHQ embraces the digital workflows that are high on the agenda for packaging printers.
The shortlisting follows hot on the heels of success at the 2023 FIAUK Print Awards, which saw the business pick up both Reprographic Company and Supplier awards for the fourth consecutive year.
Steve Mulcahy, CEO at Contact Originators, comments: “With our relentless drive for innovation and a real commitment to more sustainable and efficient printing, we are extremely proud of our PrintHQ solution – and it’s clear that the judging panel at Stationers’ Awards were too. While digital technologies are transforming the industry and adding value to printers’ operations, the manual mounting, checking, and tracking of shims remains a bottleneck. That’s exactly what we’re aiming to change; by introducing digitalisation and automation to this process, we’re adding a new layer of performance to printing.
PrintHQ is truly transformative and unique in the market. It delivers the most accurate corrugated printing plate for registration available today, allowing customers to expand their print work from other premium processes while reducing costs.
Contact Originators sees PrintHQ as an exciting step forward for flexo prepress, with the potential to reshape the industry.
Steve adds: “The impact of PrintHQ on customers and end users is significant. By eliminating inaccurately mounted shims, we are reducing downstream print production errors and waste, backing up our sustainability drive. In short, the digitalisation of plate skew checks replaces the manual, error-prone process with a more accurate and efficient solution. The benefits to storing print job information digitally are many, and it’s clear that the benefits are connecting with real-time printing customer needs – including instant recall and job repeats, eliminating errors, damaged labels, and lost time associated with the current handwritten process.”
Contact Originators is honoured to be shortlisted for the Stationers’ Innovation Excellence Awards and remains committed to pushing the boundaries of print and packaging reprographics.
