We are delighted to celebrate the success of Kate Slomiany, an account handler here at Contact Originators, who has become the first member of our team to complete the FIAUK Academy Diploma.
FIAUK, an industry association representing the interests of the UK flexographic print sector, offers an online e-learning platform, The FIAUK Academy, to make learning accessible and close key knowledge gaps in the flexo printing sector. Participants gain a broader and more robust knowledge of flexo print processes through modules on topics such as inks, fault-finding, film substrates, and lean manufacturing. For more information on the FIAUKAcademy, read our previous blog here.
Kate initially began training for The FIAUK Academy Certification, however, after scoring highly in her modules, it became clear that Kate could strive for the Diploma, which she has achieved with flying colours. As part of the Diploma, Kate undertook three Continuous Professional Development projects to enhance her technical learning, including a 6-month in-house training programme on High Quality Post-Print (HQPP), a site visit to Anilox Laser Technology and joined a 2-part webinar hosted by Esko about screening technology for flexography.
On her success, Kate said: “I am thrilled to have completed the training, I’ve really enjoyed it and feel proud of myself – the hard work has paid off. The support from the team at Contact has been great as more experienced members of the team have taken the time to support my training and we have been able to do some studying during working hours which was very much appreciated!”
Kate, who celebrates four years at Contact Originators this April and has worked in the print industry for seven years, added: “The training has given me a great overview of the industry and its supply chain. The technical training I’ve received from colleagues and the Academy has given me more confidence when liaising with colleagues, customers and suppliers. I’ve been able to step in for the Technical Manager on occasion. I’m very grateful to Contact Originators for this opportunity; I feel motivated and valued. Their support has certainly contributed towards my success.”
Jane Brocklehurst, HR Manager at Contact Originators, said: “As a company, we are dedicated to providing continued growth opportunities for our employees through upskilling and personal development. Kate is an engaged employee who has embraced the training wholeheartedly. We celebrate her success and are excited to see what’s next on her development journey.”
Four more members of the Contact team are undertaking FIAUK Academy training – stay posted for more success stories!
