We are delighted to announce that Joanne Grundy, our Quality & Systems Manager at Contact Originators, has been shortlisted in three categories for the prestigious Women in Packaging Excellence Awards.
Joanne has been nominated in the Sustainability Champion Award – Suppliers, Manufacturers and Materials category, Quality Assurance Excellence and Packaging Operations Excellence – Manufacturers, Suppliers & Technology Specialists categories.
The nominations recognise her unwavering commitment to driving sustainability and innovation throughout her career, which spans more than 30 years in the packaging industry. At Contact Originators, Joanne has become a recognised leader in sustainability, spearheading our commitment to the UN Global Compact, implementing a paperless production environment, and achieving zero waste to landfill for our business. Under her leadership, Contact Originators has also achieved Silver and then Gold EcoVadis accreditation, placing us among the top 5% of companies globally in sustainability performance.
One of Joanne’s most significant contributions came after the devastating fire at our Bredbury site in 2020. Joanne worked tirelessly with our team to rebuild our entire Quality and Environmental management system from the ground up, ensuring business continuity and supporting 15% growth in the years that followed.
Her dedication to quality management has resulted in a 49% reduction in quality-related complaints over four years and helped us achieve an exceptional score of over 90% in a sustainable supplier assessment audit from a major customer.

The Women in Packaging Excellence Awards celebrate the achievements of leading women in the packaging sector. Winners will be announced at a ceremony in London on Thursday, 10 July.
